Meira Warshauer wins 2024 Charles Ives Award in Chamber Music

Warshauer’s new arrangement of YES! for clarinet, piano, and drums was premiered by clarinetist Jaelynn Twitchell, pianist Julie Miller, and percussionist Aidan Sherwood on November 12, 2023 at the Sarah Snell Theater on the campus of State University of New York at Potsdam. The first performance of YES! for alto saxophone, piano, and drum set took place at UNC-Wilmington on March 17, 2024 with Gabriel Sánchez-Porras on saxophone, Elizabeth Loparits at the piano, and Mitch Hebert playing the drum set. Clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, who has recorded the concerto, wrote, “YES! is an exciting, rhythmically energizing piece with lots of jazz accents and a fun, driving beat.” Orchestra and chamber versions are available in our catalogue for purchase and rental.

She won the 2024 American Prize Charles Ives Award in Chamber Music in the professional instrumental division with her trilogy Ocean Calling, which has been recorded for Navona Records and is available for download or streaming.
