Grammy-winning composer Lalo Schifrin passed away on June 26, 2025 at the age of 93. Studying with Juan Carlos Paz and in Paris with Olivier Messian, he arranged music and performed as pianist in Dizzy Gillespie’s band and later worked with other jazz musicians such as Stan Getz and Jimmy Smith. During his T.V. and film career, he received six Oscar nominations for his work, including Cool Hand Luke and The Amityville Horror, but he is perhaps best-remembered for the theme of the 1960s and 1970s spy show Mission: Impossible.
