Eric Ewazen’s “Grand Valley Fanfare” for Brass Quintet was commissioned by the Department of Music of Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, for Richard Stoelzel and the Avatar Brass in celebration of the inauguration of Mark A. Murray as President of Grand Valley State University, and the composition was premiered at President Murray’s inauguration on November 9, 2001.
