These two Sonatines composed by Schubert in March of 1816 unfortunately receive relatively little attention from violinists. This World Premiere clarinet edition by Richard Stoltzman thankfully breathes new life into these delightful little pieces. The felicitous and satisfying quality of the works is perfect for the clarinet as they are full of memorable melodies contained in a formal claity, that is nevertheless full of harmonic surprises.
