Description:

The overture to the festival opera IL RE PASTORE (The Shepherd King) is Mozart’s first one-movement overture. Full of dynamic life and variety, it was first performed in Salzburg, Austria on April 23, 1775. The libretto was by the successful 18th century writer, Metastasio.
