Description:

CONCERTO FOR PIANO NO. 4 IN G MAJOR, Op. 58, composed in 1805-1806, is considered one of the crown jewels of the piano concerto repertoire. Composing it between 1805 and 1806, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) gave the first performance in a private concert at the palace of Prince Franz Joseph von Lobkowitz. He also played the solo part in the first public performance in the famously cold four-hour concert at the Theater an der Wien on December 22, 1808, in which he also conducted the premieres of his fifth and sixth symphonies. He dedicated the concerto to his student and friend Archduke Rudolph. It suffered from neglect for many years until a series of tours by Felix Mendelssohn created fresh demand for its permanent return to the concert hall. Instrumentation: 1.2.2.2 : 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set): Solo Pno.
