In 1892 Anton�n Dvor�k (1841-1904) embarked on a �farewell� tour of Bohemian and Moravian cities prior to departing for the United States, and he chose his friends, violinist Ferdinand Lachner and cellist Hanu� Wihan, as travel companions. For the tour Dvor�k arranged some of his earlier works for Wihan and he also wrote a completely new Rondo in G minor for solo cello with piano accompaniment.
