Following, the violin virtuoso Joseph Joachim advised Bruch in heavy revisions, with this final version premiering in Bremen on January 5, 1868, with Joachim playing the solo, Karl Martin Reinthaler conducting. This concerto, with its soaring melodies and lush orchestral writing, is probably Bruch’s best-known work, and it remains a staple of the violin repertoire.
