In the mid 1800s, archeologists discovered ruins of an ancient Mayan city in the rain forests of Guatemala. They named it “Tikal,” a word of Mayan origin meaning “at the waterhole.” This marimba piece was inspired by photos of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grade 3, Duration ca. 3′.
