Description:

Capturing the sound of traditional Japanese pentatonic music, this work playfully depicts the tradition of keeping crickets as house pets in order to enjoy good luck. While composed for string orchestra and woodblock, there are optional parts for harp, flute and clarinet. (All parts are cross-cued.) A marvelous aural repose, this work will provide a contrast that will keep the rest of your concert fresh.
