The Calchaqui Indians in the Northwest of Argentina were vassals of the Incas before the arrival of the Spanish conquerors. In Danza de los Montes, we feel their rhythms juxtaposed to the scales that suffered the passing of time. The result is an exciting study on rhythms and melodic counterpoints.
