The pieces in Bruce Corrigan’s Solos for the Developing Timpanist were written to provide solos for solo and ensemble contest, to provide solo material for the young timpanist to have fun practicing and performing with a focus on the fundamentals of timpani playing. These fundamentals include tone, legato, marcato, staccato, common rhythms and rests, common musical styles, rolls, muffling, tuning, cross sticking, accents, grace notes, tempo changes, and various notation styles, time signatures, plus dynamic markings.
