16 ensembles for two and three tubas were transcribed from First Lessons in Bach, compiled by Walter Carroll. Most first appeared in the Clavier Book of Anna Magdalena Bach, the composer’s second wife. The music lends itself quite well to almost any sort of bass clef brass instrumentatioin, including configurations where trombone or baritone play the upper parts which rarely go below an F below the staff.
