The three-act operetta The Fortune Teller was written by Victor Herbert (1859-1924) in 1898, and it tells the story of an heiress and aspiring ballerina from Hungary name Irma who loves a young Hussar captain despite being forced to marry a silly nobleman. When a gypsy fortune teller arrives and is mistaken for Irma, it causes complications.
