Magnificat in G minor, RV 610/611
Composers:- Vivaldi, Antonio
- Westermann, Clayton
Duration: 20
Description:
Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) wrote numerous versions in G minor of the Magnificat canticle, making alterations to his own settings over his decades serving as director of music at the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage for girls. While three versions exist as RV 610 in his catalog, a later version from perhaps 1739 was instead designated RV 611. This edition by Clayton Westermann includes both RV 610 and RV 611, offering choirs multiple ways to approach the nine movements of the work. Orchestra accompaniment score and parts are available separately from the publisher.
