This version was orchestrated by famed Russian composer, music teacher and conductor, Alexander Glazunov. The third piece in the set, “Mélodie” showcases Tchaikovsky’s mastery of melody. Tchaikovsky also described it as “chant sans paroles” (song without words) with a song like quality throughout the piece. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.0.0.0: Str(9-8-7-6-5): Solo Violin in set.
