This Preludio Sinfonico in A (S.32) has often been confused with Giacomo Pucccini’s (1858-1924) Preludio a Orchestra (S.1), composed when he was a teenager. The Preludio Sinfonico was composed as part of Puccini’s final examination of the academic year 1881-1882 at the Milan Conservatory, with the premiere performance taking place there on July 15, 1882.
