Founded in 1926, Edwin F. Kalmus is the oldest reprint publisher in the United States. Previously located in Boca Raton, FL, the company was moved to Jacksonville in 2018, and sold to Keiser Productions Inc. in 2020. In addition to the well-known and improved reprint catalog, new series and editions are also being developed.

Including “Turkey in the Straw,” “Chicken Reel” is among the two most well-known poultry-inspired folk tunes. Originally composed by Joseph M. (Michael) Daly in 1910, the novelty song turned folk song later became used commonly in early animated cartoons to depict farmyard activity. The dance tune was developed into this brilliant concert piece by Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) 1946, with touches of humor and unexpected rhythmical variations, which are the hallmarks of Anderson’s musical style.
