Previously located in Boca Raton, FL, the company was moved to Jacksonville in 2018, and sold to Keiser Productions Inc. in 2020. La Cenerentola (Cinderella) is based on the fairy tale Cendrillon by Charles Perrault. Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) composed La Cenerentola at age 25 following the success of his opera The Barber of Seville. Rossini’s Cinderella follows the traditional fairy tale with a few variations: the wicked stepmother is replaced with a stepfather, Don Magnifico, the Fairy Godmother is replaced with a philosopher and tutor to the prince, Alidoro, and Cinderella is identified by a bracelet instead of a glass slipper. La Cenerentola premiered on January 25, 1817 at the Teatro Valle in Rome and today is considered a staple of the standard repertoire.
