Description:

Baroque harpsichordist Christoph Graupner (1683-1760) was highly prolific, composing over one thousand cantatas as well as a variety of sinfonias, concertos, suites, and operas. His failure to attain the post of Cantorate in Leipzig in the winter of 1723, ironically, allowed Johann Sebastian Bach to take the position. Largely forgotten after his death, his music has experienced a recent revival due to modern scholarship. Written between 1728 and 1731, his CONCERTO FOR OBOE IN F MAJOR, GWV 324 was probably intended for the court oboist at Darmstadt, where the composer then served as Kapellmeister. In 1953, a version edited by Alfred Kreutz was published, here presented in this Kalmus edition. Instrumentation: 0.0.0.1(opt.): 0.0.0.0: Hpchd: Str (2.2.2.2.0 in set): Solo Ob in set.
