Description:
BODY LOOPS (for piano and orchestra) is inspired by the book DESCARTES’ ERROR by neuroscientist Antonio Damasio. The book describes two ways we experience memories which he calls the “as if loop” and the “body loop.” The music represents emotionally charged memories as they travel the loop from mind to body and back. It is structured in a series of musical loops in which ideas are presented in varying states of intensity. Just as in real life, the loops are suddenly triggered by events, which in this case are musical gestures.
