Description: Alan Shulman’s Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra was begun in Maine in 1946 and completed in New York City in 1948. Leonard Rose gave the premiere with Dimitri Mitropoulos conducting the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, April 13-14, 1950.
