Camille Saint-Saëns originally wrote Allegro Appassionato for Violoncello and small orchestra in 1873. As the title suggests, this piece is a smooth piece that has abrupt tempo changes and a cadenza-like theme. Nowadays this piece is commonly played with piano accompaniment as it is presented here. Reprint edition.
