Written by Béla Bartók (1881-1945) in 1926, the Piano Concerto No. 1 was among several piano works to be composed following a three-year compositional dry spell. The work premiered on July 1, 1927, with Wilhelm Furtwängler conducting the International Society for Contemporary Music in Frankfurt, with the composer as soloist. Reprint edition.
