Missa in B-flat, Hob.XXII: 13 ‘Schoepfungsmesse’ (Creation Mass)
Composers:- Haydn, Franz Joseph
Duration: 46
Description:
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) composed the MISSA IN B-flat, Hob.XXII: 13 in 1801. It is referred to as the SCHÖPFUNGSMESSE (CREATION MASS) because it includes the words “qui tollis peccata mundi” in the Gloria. Haydn did recycle music from Adam and Eve’s final duet in THE CREATION, so scandalizing the Empress Maria Theresa that she demanded Haydn rewrite that passage for her personal copy. Instrumentation: 0.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Org: Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set): Soli SATB: Mixed SATB Chorus. The vocal score is available from LudwigMasters (W7512). The set of score and parts, score alone, and each of the four individual choral parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) are available from Edwin F. Kalmus (A2650). Reprint edition.
