Composers:
  • Dvorak, Antonin
Arrangers:
  • Sourek, Otakar/ Micka, Josef
Detailed Instrumentation: Violin and Piano
Duration: 15
Description:

In 1887, Antonín Dvo?ák (1841-1904) was living at his mother-in-law’s house where another room was rented to an amateur violinist, Josef Kruis. Dvo?ák often heard Kruis playing duets with his teacher and decided to write a trio to join them, resulting in his TERZETTO, Op. 74 for two violins and viola. This work proved too difficult for Kruis, resulting in Dvo?ák composing the easier MINIATURES, Op. 75a, a four movement work for the same instrumentation. The composer so liked the little trios that he arranged them for violin and piano under the title 4 ROMANTIC PIECES, Op. 75/B. 150. This critical edition was completed by Dvo?ák expert Otakar Å ourek and the violin part was revised by Josef Micka. Reprint edition.
