Composers:
- Handel, George Frideric
Arrangers:
Detailed Instrumentation: Violin 1, 2 and 3 (opt. Viola or Violoncello)- Hall, Percy
Duration: 5 minutes
Description: George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) was one of the most prolific and prominent composers of the Baroque period. His many commissions include the oratorio The Messiah, Water Music Suite to entertain the royal family while on a river barge, and Royal Fireworks Music, from which these two works were extracted. The music was never performed for its intended purpose as the fireworks were accidentally set off while being set up. The music was gathered into a suite of pieces for orchestra and is still played today.
