Slavonic Dances, Op. 46, for Piano Four Hands

Composers:
  • Dvorak, Antonin
Detailed Instrumentation: Piano Four Hands
Description:

Originally composed for piano duet in a series of two books, Dvorak’s SLAVONIC DANCES are among his most famous works. They were written at the suggestion of Fritz Simrock of the Simrock publishing house in Berlin. Simrock requested the works after realizing Dvorak’s MORAVIAN DUETS had inspired great public interest in Czech national music, and he suggested Dvorak create the SLAVONIC DANCES in a style similar to Brahms’ recently successful HUNGARIAN DANCES. This collection is based upon the first book of eight dances, and is a fun, exciting showcase of Dvorak’s masterful composition and two excellent pianists side by side.
