Description: Sonata in E minor, Op. 1, No. 2 was originally composed for cello and continuo in the early 18th century (published c. 1712–1714) by Benedetto Marcello (1686–1739), the Venetian nobleman, composer, and writer whose music bridged the late Baroque with the emerging galant style. Part of his Opus 1 collection of instrumental sonatas, the work is influenced by the Italian sonata tradition cultivated by composers such as Corelli. The Sonata in E minor, Op. 1, No. 2 remains a respected work within the Baroque chamber repertoire. This edition for Viola and Piano was completed by Gaston Marchet. Reprint edition.
