Description: The oratorio ELIJAH by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847), which tells the dramatic story of the well-known Old Testament prophet, is considered to be one of the prolific prodigy’s finest compositions. In the original orchestration, “If With All Your Hearts” is a tenor solo, and “Lift Thine Eyes” is for three-part unaccompanied women’s chorus. In this arrangement for Violin trio (with optional Viola for Violin 3), Percy Hall has changed the original key to make it more appropriate for that instrumentation.
