The third of three ballet scores commissioned by Serge Diaghilev for the Ballet Russes from the composer, “Le Sacre du Printeps” (The Rite of Spring) called for an enormous orchestra. This arrangement was created to produce an abridged, reduced orchestration of Stravinsky’s masterwork. All sections of the ballet which are included in this arrangement are presented in their original keys so that the players will be exposed to the important excerpts untransposed. The order of all scenes is faithful to the original score.
