Description:
Originally part of a set of two pieces entitled “Nocturne and Scherzo.” The Nocturne was published individually under the title “A Night Piece.” This is the first published performance edition of the “Scherzo” alone. Some of the musical material was used by Foote in previous compositions dating back to the 1890’s. The manuscript sent by the New England Conservatory is entitled “Caprice.”
