Composers:
  • Grainger, Percy Aldridge
Arrangers:
  • Simpson, Carl
Detailed Instrumentation: Concert Band
Duration: 3
Description:

Originally part of the 1916 orchestral suite IN A NUTSHELL, Grainger described the meaning of the work’s title as, “Awaiting the arrival of a belated train bringing one’s sweetheart from foreign parts: great fun! The sort of thing one hums to oneself as an accompaniment to one’s tramping feet as one happily, excitedly, paces up and down the arrival platform.” Written for a either solo viola or double reeds or a group of violas or group of double reeds, this arrangement for band was masterfully completed by Carl Simpson.
