Linda Maxey

Bio:

Linda Maxey was the first marimbist on the roster of Columbia Artists Management in New York and has performed hundreds of concerts throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. Her New York debut was in 1990 at the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall. She was a featured artist at the Cross Drumming Festival in Warsaw, the Journees de la Percussion international festival in Paris, and was the first marimbist to perform at the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival in Prague and also at the International Festival de Musica in Portugal. She received two Fulbright Senior Scholar Awards to teach at the Lithuanian Academy of Music, which awarded her an honorary doctorate degree in 2002. The U.S. State Department selected her as the Fulbright Alumni of the Month Award in 2011. The U.S. Embassy and the Lithuanian ?iurlionis Foundation presented her with the Intellectuals of Lithuania and the USA Award ?for her outstanding work in promoting closer educational and cultural relations between the people of Lithuania and the United States.? She has presented clinics and master classes at major universities throughout the United States and in Paris, Prague, St. Petersburg, Warsaw, Minsk, The Baltic States, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Maxey developed the MPM 3-octave practice marimba, a portable marimba keyboard designed for beginning students. Her articles on interpreting music, artist and management, and the art of performing have appeared in Percussive Notes magazine.
