Daniel Jones

Bio:

Dr. Daniel Jones is a composer, arranger, trumpeter, educational leader and researcher. Jones has published over 30 original compositions and arrangements for concert band, brass ensemble, and trumpet. His concert band pieces have been published by Wingert-Jones, Print Music Source, and Imagine Music Publications and his brass music has been published by Cimarron Music Press, Mentor Music, and Cherry Classics. Jones is an active trumpeter in St. Louis, playing with the Civic Orchestra and subbing with several other ensembles. He has previously performed with the Des Moines Symphony, Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra, Central Iowa Symphony, and Fort Dodge Area Symphony. Jones earned his Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he studied with Dr. James South, and his Bachelor of Music Education from Iowa State University, where he studied trumpet with Dr. James Bovinette. Jones currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Riverview Gardens High School in St. Louis and previously taught Music, German, and English in St. Louis and Des Moines, Iowa. Having recently earned his PhD in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University, Dr. Jones' dissertation highlighted the use of the arts to enhance school administration, professional development, and leadership behaviors. Dr. Jones has also published scholarly articles discussing the use of educational calendars, language contact phenomena, music pedagogy, and musicology. Jones lives with his family in Chesterfield, Missouri.
