Benjamin Roberts
Bio:For nearly his entire life, Benjamin Roberts has had a fascination with all things music. His journey began at his family’s piano, where he began to teach himself the rhythms and notes of simple songs he heard around the house. When he was 10, he joined his school orchestra as a cellist, and later the school band as a bassoonist, where his love for music really started to take form. At the age of 15, his interest expanded to the world of composition, and he started learning to write his own pieces. Over the following two years, he would receive the honor of being a two-time finalist in the Austin Symphony Orchestra’s annual Young Composers Competition, which solidified his goal to become a professional composer. He began to take lessons with Dr. David F. Wilborn around this time, and has continued to hone his compositional skills ever since.
