Conversations with Andre

Composers:
  • Bolcom, William
Detailed Instrumentation: Piano
Duration: 3
Description:

André Hajdu’s and composer William Bolcom both studied with Darius Milhaud at the Paris Conservatoire in the 1960s and became close friends. A wide-ranging composer, flourishing in Israel, where he lived in Jerusalem with his wife and sons, this work in six movements was written for his 60th birthday. Hajdu’s own music – witty, dramatic, argumentative, devout, and essentialist – is what William Bolcom attempted to invoke in these short piano pieces.
