Also known as Variations on a Theme of Corelli, The Art of Bowing is widely considered the first great method for violin. Aside from being invaluable to the development of technique, the variations which include piano accompaniment also serve as rich and rewarding solo material for recitals. This edition by Heifetz protege, Endre Granat, is based on comparison of the first three published editions and features meticulous attention to the details of bowing and fingering. Included in the publication is a letter from Tartini to his then 14 year old violin student, Maddalena Lombardini, detailing an important lesson to violin performers on not only bowing, but also fingerboard technique.
