Ray Luke received his education at Texas Christian University and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.  Upon graduating, he taught at Oklahoma City University and served as music director of the Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra.  He wrote a variety of orchestral and chamber works, in addition to opera and ballet.  Among many distinguished awards, he received the 1969 Grand Prix Gold Medal in the International Competition for Composition, as well as the 1979 New England Conservatory Opera Competition Award.  The Prelude and March, written for concert band, captivates with its memorable tunes and rhythmic energy.
