This arrangement of Franz Liszt’s Consolations II-V is for flute and piano. These pieces are superficially simple to execute. However, they show a depth of interpretive skill and ensemble which few 19th-century works offer us; a Romantic sense of rubato, sostenuto and the varied use of colors and vibrato are essential to a successful performance of the ‘Consolations.’
