Chorale and Clog Dance

Composers:
  • Hall, Percy
Detailed Instrumentation: Euphonium 1 (F Horn/Trb.), Euphonium 2 (alt. Trb.), Tuba 1 (alt. Euph.) and Tuba 2
Duration: 2
Description:

This piece was written to give the less-experienced ensemble an opportunity to perform music of limited range and technique with satisfying results. It has been widely performed in manuscript form both as a quartet and as a choir. Two contrasting styles of performance are included in this attractive musical package. The Clog Dance is patterned after the Cape Breton style of dance that has its roots in Ireland. The dedication to Gary Tirey is most appropriate, since he has been an active promoter of low brass ensemble music and performance for OMEA,and also organizes the TubaChristmas for the Columbus area each year. Optional parts are included for Euphonium T.C. and F Horn.
