Blending the slow triple meter of a classical-era dance with a contemporary foxtrot, Leroy Anderson created his charming SARABAND. The first performance took place on May 27, 1948 with the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of Arthur Fiedler. The composer conducted the first recording with Decca Records on September 11, 1950.
