Between 1832 and 1833, Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) composed two works for a trio of clarinet, piano and basset horn: Concert Piece No. 1 in F Major, Op. 113 and Concert Piece No. 2 in D minor, Op. 114. They were composed for clarinetist Heinrich Baermann and his basset horn-playing son, Carl Baermann, and they stand out as the only compositions Mendelssohn wrote for basset horn. This arrangement of Concert Piece No. 2 (Konzertstücke) in D minor, Op. 114 for solo clarinet and solo basset horn with wind septet has been completed by Graham Sheen. Instrumentation: 1.2.0.2: 2.0.0.0: Soli Clarinet & Basset Horn in set.
