Description: Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums) in C-sharp minor, SC 65 was composed in 1890 by Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924) as an elegiac work for string quartet, written in response to the death of Amedeo, Duke of Savoy. The title refers to the chrysanthemum, a flower associated in Italy with mourning and remembrance, and the music reflects a somber, introspective character marked by flowing lyric lines and restrained emotional intensity. Although conceived as a chamber work, Puccini later reused its principal themes in his opera Manon Lescaut (1893), demonstrating its personal significance. This arrangement for string orchestra has been completed by Lucas Drew. A count of 8-8-5-5-5 strings are included in the set.
