THE GOOD HUMORED LADIES (LE DONNE DE BUON UMORE) is a 1917 ballet arranged by Vincenzo Tommasini (1878-1950) from sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757). The plot, based on a comedy by Carlo Goldoni, concern the doings of a count that disguises himself as a woman while attending a carnival. The ballet premiered in 1917 in Rome by Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. This suite from the ballet is in six movements: I. Presto; II. Allegro; III. Andante; IV. Tempo di ballo (Non presto); V. Cat’s Fugue and Finale (Presto).
