Description:
HOLOUBEK (THE WILD DOVE), Op. 110/B. 198, is an orchestra poem composed by AntonÃn Dvo?ák (1841-1904) in 1896. Revised in January of the next year, it tells the story of a woman who poisons her husband. Pretending to grieve at his funeral, she catches the attention of a young man who later marries her. But a wild dove lands on the grave of her murdered husband, eventually driving her to regret and suicide. The work premiered on March 20, 1898 in Brno, LeoÅ¡ Janá?ek conducting.
