Description:

SPRING WATERS: PAS DE DEUX is a short piece for ballet created in 1959 with music by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873 – 1943). Set to his song for soprano, SPRING WATERS (No. 11) from 12 ROMANCES, Op. 14, the work was choreographed by Asaf Messerer. The song by the Russian poet and diplomat Fyodor Tyutchev describes the streams of freshly melted water that proclaim an approach of spring. The ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York on April 30, 1959. This Kalmus edition is edited and orchestrated by William McDermott.
