It is reportedly heard from the belfry of Dunkirk every hour (on the half hour) and is still danced throughout the region during carnivals. The form of this version is AaAbAcAdAeA (capital A representing the refrain) which is similar to the “rondeau” of the trouberes. This form affords an opportunity for various players to be featured.
