Description: Originally composed by Gounod for full orchestra, this arrangement for string orchestra retains the form and key (D minor and D Major) of the original. Great care has been taken to ensure consistent articulations and bowing throughout and to making sure every instrument has an interesting part. Students will need to develop a light style, but players should enjoy this piece, which is appropriate for concert and contest, while older memebers of the audience will recognize this melody from its use as a theme for Alfred Hitchcock’s television program.
