Description:
A three movement work, the main themes for all of the movements are derived from a four-note motive: Bb-C-F-G, and reflect the character of the movement’s title. “Prologue” is an eclectic fanfare which compbines elements of popular muic into a symphonic form. The “Pastorale” has serene opening and closing sections which surroud a stormy middle section. “Parade” openes with a procession of themes and motives which are then used throughout the movement. As the work unfolds, these ideas begin to overlap and build in intensity, as if the parade were passing by the listener.
